Aisling joined Russell Kennedy from the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office (VGSO). Aisling gained extensive experience acting for government clients across a range a matters including the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse (Royal Commission) and public law litigation involving, State and Commonwealth supervision order and detention order applications, prosecutions, coronial inquests and advisory work

Since joining Russell Kennedy Aisling has gained experience in running regulatory proceedings for the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra).

Experience

·         Currently acting on behalf of Corrections Victoria and Justice Health in relation to the deaths of offenders subject to post sentence supervision orders at residential facilities.

·         Currently acting for the Secretary to the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) on State supervision order matters.  Whilst at VGSO, Aisling also acted on State supervision order and detention order matters.  

·      Aisling was also involved in preparing and settling prosecutions guidelines for these matters, which involved liaising with the Post Sentence Branch, Victoria Police and Office of Public Prosecutions.

Whilst at the VGSO:

 ·           Acted for Corrections Victoria on Commonwealth continuing detention order and supervision order matters.

·          Acted for the Attorney-General on matters under the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act 1997 (CMIA). This work involved advising the Attorney-General on reviews of custodial and non-custodial supervision orders and     applications to vary or revoke orders, drafting and settling submissions and briefing and instructing Counsel and acted on the State response to the Royal Commission.
