David is a highly regarded planning and environmental lawyer with extensive experience acting for government authorities, local councils and private clients. His key areas of practice include statutory and strategic planning, land acquisition and compensation, environmental licensing and compliance, local government law, contaminated land and water law.

Experience

  • Appearing on behalf of clients before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, Planning Panels Victoria and Supreme Court of Victoria in complex planning and environmental proceedings
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of compulsory land acquisition, including advising on and litigating claims for compensation under the Land Acquisition and Compensation Act 1986 and the Planning and Environment Act 1987
  • Advising Federal and State government authorities in relation to the environmental impact assessment of major infrastructure projects
  • Advising in relation to the remediation and development of contaminated and potentially contaminated land
  • Undertaking planning and environmental due diligence
  • Advising in relation to planning agreements
  • Advising water authorities regarding catchment management, water infrastructure issues, access, compensation and other rights and obligations under the Water Act 1989
