Claire acts on behalf of various government clients and statutory authorities. Claire specialises in professional conduct, regulatory compliance and administrative review proceedings.

Claire brings significant government experience to her role, having worked within the Department of Justice and Community Safety and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning. Most recently, Claire co-managed the legal team at the Judicial Commission of Victoria.

Claire also acts in migration and refugee law matters as part of Russell Kennedy’s Pro Bono Practice.

Experience

  • Advising on the development, operation and interpretation of new legislation.
  • Preparing policies and regulatory guidance within government departments and agencies.
  • Conducting professional conduct investigations and instructing independent investigating panels.
  • Acting on behalf of clients in administrative review proceedings in VCAT and the Supreme Court.
  • Providing support and advice to senior departmental executives and liaising with the Attorney-General’s office on complex and sensitive justice and courts matters.
  • Experience in refugee and migration law, including judicial review litigation.
  • Experience in planning and environment matters, including appearing as a solicitor-advocate in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
  • Delivering presentations to legal sector groups.
