Our Expertise

Insurance

Russell Kennedy has more than 60 years experience working with the insurance industry. We deliver smart, sensible advice that takes into consideration your commercial objectives and the industry landscape in which you operate.

As expert Insurance Lawyers we provide specialised insurance advice and litigation services to a large number of public and private companies, including some of Australia’s largest insurance underwriters and insurance brokers, as well as government bodies, self insurers and individuals.

Our insurance practice covers general, income and disability insurance, motor vehicle insurance, personal injury and property damage, employer’s liability insurance, professional negligence, broking disputes and personal injury litigation. We assist our clients with disputes arising from insurance policies and provide general commercial advice to insurers and policyholders.

We have over many years developed processes and procedures whereby our service to insurers and other clients are tailored and cost effective.  This has included developing online portals, precedents and reporting, enabling reliable service and resulting in the building of trusting, long term relationships with our clients.

We undertake large volume recovery work for some of Australia’s largest insurers, and also act for government and statutory authorities on various insurance and litigation related matters.  We have also acted in numerous alleged negligence claims against legal practitioners as well as in a range of professional conduct matters and disciplinary work for a number of government and semi-government boards and entities, including medical colleges and AHPRA.

Since 2005 Russell Kennedy has worked closely with the Victorian WorkCover Authority, as part of the Recoveries Panel, to recover payments of compensation made to injured workers in the case of negligent third parties.  Our WorkCover team also acts for employers and insurers defending common law damages claims and statutory benefit disputes.
