Workplace Relations Seminar: Why not to take a casual approach to your casual workforce

We are currently witnessing major changes in the structure of the workforce.  The “gig economy” is growing, driven by general economic uncertainty, sector-specific changes (such as the NDIS and consumer-directed care), and the demands of the workforce.  Hiring casual workers can be a great way to ensure that your workforce has the flexibility required to respond to your clients' needs.  However, there is often more to understand about casual employment than employers may first realise.

In this seminar, Anthony Massaro and Abbey Sutton will cover the ways we often see employers getting it wrong:

  1. Dismissing casuals
  2. Casual conversion
  3. Leave entitlements
  4. Casual loading - interaction with other loadings and penalty rates
  5. Treating casuals as contractors

If you have any questions about casual employment that you would like Anthony and Abbey to answer in this seminar, please email them to seminars@rk.com.au by Monday 17 July
